Der Name ist eine Zusammensetzung aus dem alts\u00e4chsischen Rufnamen &#8222;Othil&#8220; und dem Wort &#8222;-heim&#8220;, und bedeutet &#8222;Wohnst\u00e4tte\/Siedlung des Odil&#8220;. Im 11. Jahrhundert war der Ort nachweislich Sitz eines Erzpriesters und somit der kirchliche Mittelpunkt des Raumes. Die geistlichen und weltlichen Machtstrukturen wechselten im Laufe der Jahrhunderte. Doch letztlich waren es immer die hier lebenden Menschen, die mit ihrer Arbeit und ihren Anwesen in Fachwerkbauweise die d\u00f6rflichen Strukturen schufen und pr\u00e4gten. Noch heute bestimmt das Fachwerk das Ortsbild.<\/p>\n<p>Die Lage bot schon den fr\u00fcheren Bewohnern Vorteile. Das Ufer steigt nur langsam an und bietet eine weite Fl\u00e4che, die sich landwirtschaftlich nutzen l\u00e4sst. Sie ist durch die Ausrichtung nach S\u00fcdwesten den ganzen Tag sonnenbeschienen.<\/p>\n<p>Das macht nun den Eco Pfad Kulturgeschichte Oedelsheim zu einem Wandervergn\u00fcgen. Vom Startpunkt Dorf-Museum geht es durch das historische Dorf zur Weser. Neben dem Fluss f\u00fchrt der Weg auf der Sonnenseite hoch zum Waldrand und mit dem Blick auf den Ort und bewaldete Bergh\u00f6hen wieder zur\u00fcck.<\/p>\n<p>Der Eco Pfad Kulturgeschichte Oedelsheim bietet viel Abwechslung. Er ist insgesamt ca. 5 km lang. Nicht vers\u00e4umen sollten Sie den Rundweg durch den alten Ortskern.
